North Dakota 2017 Catholic Daughters State Convention

The 50th biennial North Dakota convention of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas was held in Bismarck on May 5-7, 2017.  This years convention theme was, “Mary, Our Mother, Help us say YES”!!

Approximately 150 members from across the state  were in attendance.  Special attendees included:  Claudia Bosch (Past National Regent), Shirley Seyfield (Immediate Past National Regent), Vickie Feist (Second Vice National Regent and supervisor), Renae Sticka (Immediate Past State Regent), and Father Franklin Mille (State Chaplain).

Previous to the start of the convention, a mass for Vocations was said by Bishop Kagan.

State officers elected for 2017 to 2019 were Laurel Dukart of Grand Forks (State Regent), Mary Baer of Belfield (First Vice State Regent), Benita Erickson of Langdon (Second Vice State Regent), and Deb Johnson of Fargo (Treasurer).

At each state convention, Catholic Daughters  in the state vote on a project to support  financially and spirtually for the next two years. This year they voted to support  ST ANNES INDIAN MISSION of Belcourt.

Attending from Bowman were Terry Walter (Regent), Jane Nelsen (Treasurer), and member Agnes Kitzan. Nelsen was elected to serve on the nominating committee for the next State convention.

Court Father Tracy received five awards for the Circle of Love program, and had three participants place in the Education contest, with one placing first and being sent on to the National competition.
