Get out those lumpy sweaters and galoshes: winter weather has officially arrived.
Bowman County got its first peak at winter this morning with a few flurries that switched on-and-off to light rain. But it’s not over yet as a hazardous weather outlook issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Bismarck called for a light mix of snow and rain to fall overnight Monday in Bowman County.
While little to no accumulation is expected, the NWS reported that temperatures will plummet to below freezing beginning this evening. The NWS reported a 40 percent chance of the wintry mix appearing prior to 11 p.m., then switching to snow from that time until 1 a.m. Tuesday. The low temperature for Monday was expected to be 27 degrees.
A wind advisory remained in effect for southwest North Dakota and is scheduled to end at 7 p.m. tonight. The NWS expected gusts of up to 50 mph across the area, into far central North Dakota. High winds would decrease after midnight, to near 17 to 22 mph.
Tuesday morning will bring mostly cloudy weather, turning to gradual sun, with a high near 41 degrees, according to the NWS. Winds could gust up to 26 mph.
