The North Dakota Women’s Network (NDWN) is seeking nominations for its 2016 Woman of the Year award. The Woman of the Year award is given to a North Dakota woman in acknowledgement of the contribution she has made in her field, and to publicly show appreciation for her efforts to improve the lives of women from all walks of life. Nominations are due March 31.
Nominees should demonstrate leadership or excellence in one or more of the following criteria:
• Political advocacy for women: Serving to inspire women to run for political office and/or break down barriers for so doing. Being a voice in decision making arenas.
• Economic self-sufficiency: Working to advance equal pay for equal work among men and women.
• Women’s health and advocacy: Serving as a voice to ensure quality, affordable healthcare for all women and ensuring a woman’s right to choose.
• Education: Support of strong educational opportunities for all North Dakota women.
• Reproductive Justice: Working to ensure women’s reproductive health is comprehensively secure.
• Safety: Providing intervention and prevention of violence against women.
• Equality: Working to eradicate discrimination based on gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation or familial status.
The 2016 Woman of the Year will be honored in the fall of 2016 at the North Dakota Women’s Network’s Annual Meeting.
