It was another stellar year for Southwest Healthcare Service’s annual Celebrity Waiter fundraising event.
A gross total of $70,000 was raised through the sale of tickets, auction items, donations and an impromptu game of Bingo during the event, held March 5 at the Four Seasons Pavilion in Bowman. Though the net profit that will go to Southwest Healthcare will be smaller after the committee pays for the event’s expenses.
Twenty tables — ranging in themes from “The Walking Dead” and Words with Friends to “Saturday Night Live” and Bavarian Oktoberfest — helped celebrate the event that raises funds for departments at SWHS of Bowman.
There were 315 tickets sold, with 43 live auction items, including a last-minute bid for a date with one of the auctioneering gentleman, and 131 silent auction items donated.
The top selling items from the live auction were a Peter Luger-style gourmet dinner for eight prepared by several local residents, and an original painting donated by local artist Marsha Lehman.
