The Bowman County Commission on Thursday made the decision to enforce a burn ban for Bowman County, prohibiting the discharge of fireworks and open campfires.

People planning to hold fireworks displays need search for a location outside of the burn ban’s area, which includes Bowman Haley Dam, Gascoyne Lake and all campgrounds located within the county. Anyone who violates the order could be charged with a Class B misdemeanor.

The igniting of fireworks elsewhere outside the cities’ limits is highly discouraged, but not prohibited. Fireworks are prohibited in areas served by the Rhame Fire District.

The Bowman Chamber of Commerce fireworks display will continue to be held at the Bowman Haley Dam on Sunday, as originally scheduled.
