Alvin D. Schaff, 77, of Scranton passed away at his home on Monday, July 5, 2016.
Mass of Christian Burial for Al was at 10 a.m. July 8 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Stephen Folorunso celebrated the Mass with burial heldon at 1 p.m. July 11 in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. There was a Rosary at 9:30 a.m. at the church before Mass.
Alvin Daniel Schaff was born on July 9, 1938 in Missoula, Mont., to Nicholas and Eva Meier Schaff. He was raised and educated in Mott and proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1959-1962.
Alvin came to Scranton for work.
On March 9, 1974 he was united in marriage to Kathleen Krank. After their marriage they made their home in Scranton. Al worked at the Scranton Equity Lumber for 38 years and retired in 2000.
He enjoyed watching sports, working in the yard and especially he loved to fish and travel around the U.S. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nick and Eva, first wife Nolene, brothers-in-law, Mitch Hansey and Duane Selby, and mother and father-in-law, Jean and Charles Krank. He is survived by his wife Kathleen of Scranton, daughter, Patricia of Charlotte, N.C., son, Robert (Loni) Schaff of Lake Wylie, S.C., and grandchildren, Alexis and Palmer, brothers, Wilmer and Nick Schaff and sisters, Dianne Schnable and Evan Selby.
Krebsbach and Kulseth Funeral Services was in charge of the arrangements.
