David Aasen, 61, of Ray passed away on Friday, Aug. 26, 2016 at the Sanford Health Center in Fargo.
Funeral Services for David were on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016 at the Bowman Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. Pastor Mark Nygard officiated with burial to follow in the Bowman Cemetery. There was a family and friends service on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016 at the Krebsbach Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation was on Tuesday, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
David J. Aasen was born in Bowman on Jan. 31, 1955, the son of Kaare and Pauline (Schaff) Aasen. He was reared on the family farm southwest of Bowman and attended Eden Country School from grades first through eighth. He then attended Bowman High School and graduated in 1973. After graduation, David attended the NDSSC in Wahpeton where he received his degree as a Diesel Mechanic.
David was united in marriage to Laurie Johnson in 1980 and to this union two sons were born, Joseph and Christopher. David worked various jobs throughout his life from Evergreen Implement, Dan Porter Motors, Wildrose Farm and Auto, Ray Service Center and most recently Gooseneck Implement in Ray.
He enjoyed spending time at threshing bees, looking and working on tractors and cruising on his Harley. Most of all though, David enjoyed time with his family and playing with his grandson.
He is survived by his son, Joseph (Jennifer Fields) Aasen of Brush, Colo., grandsons, Christopher and Easton, Jennifer’s children, Austin, Alisha and Tyler, sister, Lori (Allen) Hintz of Mandan, brothers, Gary (Teresa) Aasen of Missouri City, Texas, and Robert (Dolores) Aasen of Plano, Texas, nieces and nephews, Anna, Jason, Jeremy, Heather, Micheal, Cody and Jordan, and many Schaff and Aasen cousins. He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher, parents, Kaare and Pauline, brother-in-law, Jack Mihulka and step-mother, Violet Freier-Aasen.
Krebsbach and Kulseth Funeral Services of Bowman was in charge of the arrangements.
