Nicholas Johnson, 23 of Rhame passed away on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016 in Bowman. Funeral Services for Nick were at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016 at the Rhame American Legion. Pastor Mark Nygard officiated. Visitation for Nick was on Friday, Aug. 26, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Krebsbach Funeral Home Chapel.

Nicholas Lee Johnson was born on Feb. 6, 1993 in Glendive, Mont., the son of Tom and Sheila (Estes) Johnson. He was raised in Rhame where he attended grade school until attending Bowman High School where he graduated in 2011. After high school, Nick remained in Rhame for work.

He loved being a member of the Rhame Volunteer Fire Department since he was able to join the force at 18 years of age. He helped his father at the fire department many years prior to being an active member and he also loved flipping pancakes at the Bowman County Fair Fireman’s Breakfast.

He enjoyed riding his motorcycles both his street bike and dirt bike and he enjoyed spending trips to Sturgis with family and friends. Nick had an eye and talent for outdoor photography. He has taken many photos that would rival those of professionals. He enjoyed fishing with his family and friends and hunting with his dad. Nick enjoyed the outdoors, which included his job working for Fish Farms of Rhame. He also enjoyed his trips to visit his grandmother when she was in Hawaii and the Carolina’s making it possible to put his feet into both oceans. He enjoyed technology and even built his own computers and programmed the fireman’s radios. He loved his under armor sweatshirts and his dog, Nala.

He will always be remembered for his dimpled smile and a heart that would always put others before himself.

Nick is survived by his parents, Tom and Sheila (Estes) Johnson , sister, Cassandra, aunts and uncles, Leon (Trish) Johnson, Louisa Johnson and Mark Olson, , Evonne Johnson and Bob Roth, Lee Martens, Lori Krueger and David (Joanne) Ulven grandmothers, Barbara Ulven, Phyllis (Jim) Hahn and Geraldine Johnson., cousins, Megan, Zackary, Isaac, Rebecca, Ellie, Austin, Ty, Hunter, Emma and Dalton.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Ernie Krueger, Jerry Johnson and Charles Ulven. Krebsbach and Kulseth Funeral Services of Bowman were in charge of the arrangements.
