FFA members win silver at state range competition

On Sept. 15 members competed in the State Range competition in rural Gladstone. Mitch Stuber, Dillon Eagon, Michaela Fischer, Tasha Pond, Emily Belland, Seth Folske and Kalorada Eagon competed in this year’s event placing Silver in this year’s event.

The participants were required to identify thirty different range plants by their common name and to list the life form, life span, origin, season of growth, forage value, and root growth form of each. They also evaluated the range condition of three sites, calculated livestock stocking rates, and determine pasture improvement practices.
