
A funeral Mass for Regina M. Bruha, 80, of Buffalo, S.D., formerly of Baker, Mont., will be 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, 2016, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Baker with Father Philip Chinnappan celebrating. Burial will follow in Bonnievale Cemetery.
Visitation for Regina will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker with a rosary and vigil service being held at 4:00 p.m.
Regina passed away Monday, Sept. 19, 2016 at Bowman Southwest Healthcare.
Regina was born July 25, 1936 in Camp Crook, S.D., the daughter of Walter and Mary Alta (Fosberry) Stuart. Growing up she attended Country School at Plainview and Carter County High School, graduating with the class of 1954. Regina received her teaching certificate at Black Hills Normal College. She taught for two years at the Brown Ranch. On Oct. 20, 1956, Regina married Edmond “Eddie” Bruha in Ekalaka, Mont. Together they raised four children, Phil, Connie, Tom, and Don. For 22 years they ranched north of Baker, then moved to town in 1977. In 1980, they moved to Buffalo, S.D., where Eddie managed the Ludlow Grazing Association until Eddie passed away in 2014. Regina and Eddie enjoyed dancing (especially waltzes) and attending their children and grandchildren’s various activities. Regina enjoyed sewing quilts and clothes, decorating her Christmas tree, playing cards, canning, gardening, helping her children and grandchildren with 4-H projects, and listening to birds. Regina was a wonderful cook. She loved cooking for family holidays, brandings, and cooked for the Buffalo Senior Citizens for 20 years, Baker Hospital for 10 years, and Nellies Baker Shop for two years. She was a member of Ollie Homemakers Club, Baker Cowbelles, Buffalo Lioness Club, Eastern Montana Fiddler Association and the Harding County Senior Citizens.
Regina is survived by her children, Phil (Lona) Bruha of Dillon, Mont., Connie Bruha-Smith (Special friend Rick Collins) of Nisland, S.D., Tom (Traci) Bruha of Baker, Mont., Don (Tammy) of Buffalo, S.D.; grandchildren, Bobby (Kerri) Bruha, Clay (Kelsey) Bruha, Cole Bruha, Cameo Bruha, Tyler Bruha, Travis Bruha, Sterling Brown, Kordell Bruha; great-grandchildren, Khyra Bruha, KayLainn Bruha, Jay (Belinda) Smith and children, Ryan (Lindsey) Smith, Mike (Melissa) Smith and son; sisters, Mary June (Paul) Stuart of Jamestown, ND, Elsie Turbiville of Bowman; brother, Ed “Bub” Stuart of Newell, S.D.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eddie; brothers, Harold “Sonny” Stuart, Bill Stuart; and infant sister Nellie.
