Bright and early in the morning there is nothing better than being welcomed by a smiling teacher when we get to our first class. It’s very motivating and reminds us to keep a positive attitude throughout the day. This is just one of the many things the teachers at Bowman County High School do very well.

Another thing is not giving up on students. The teachers are always willing to meet before or after school to help, and stay for however much time you need. Everybody has trouble understanding some things and the teachers try to make it easier for you. They use different methods of teaching or get a second opinion from someone else in their department when a student is struggling. Also, they know that everyone has good and bad days but they won’t hold that one bad day against you. They move past it and focus on getting you caught up. Teachers were students once, too, and they understand the problems students face.

Teachers are very good at preparing you for the future. Whether you want to go to college, or take a year off they always have something constructive to say about your plan. They are also very open about their own college experiences, which is very helpful when choosing a school. It’s important to have that type of support when looking at different career paths. Even when students change their minds a million times, the teachers always take your decision seriously and do their best to help you get information about that career. Teachers even help you prepare for the ACT. They give you tips and material to prepare yourself with. When students are very nervous for this test, it’s nice to have advisors that are so calm and experienced with it. The test doesn’t determine everything, but it sure does help along the way.

Students and teachers at Bowman County are very open about their ideas and concerns. There are a few student-led organizations that make it the students’ responsibility to plan and follow through. These types of clubs are great opportunities to test your ideas and really see what it takes to “run” something. You have the opportunity to share your thoughts and try to help out. However, if you don’t participate in the student organizations, your opinion still matters and teachers are willing to listen to it. The school has an atmosphere where you are comfortable sharing your concerns. School is a place that students should be able to voice their ideas and opinions without being criticized for it. Teachers will never tell you that your idea isn’t a good one. Instead, they give you constructive criticism and help figure out the steps to pursue your goal. This method goes both ways. If something wasn’t handled quite the way it should have been then you are able to offer constructive criticism to the school.

The students’ opinion is really the most important, since they are affected by everything. In the schools environment, it’s possible for their opinion to be heard.

I love going to Bowman County High School. It’s a place where students and teachers support each other to always be taking in new information. That’s the biggest, most important thing that I have found.

We are all learning and will never stop.
