Bowman County may have had an 11-2 record as February started, but it wasn’t good enough to place in the latest Class B Boys basketball poll.
Undefeated Four Winds Minnewaukan (12-0) held the top spot just ahead of Rugby (13-1), St. John (11-1) and Richland (10-1).
However two tough games may make some changes in the rankings – especially if the Bulldogs can knock off their ranked foes.
The Bulldogs faced tenth-ranked Dickinson Trinity Tuesday in Dickinson. The Titans handed the Bulldogs an early season loss in the title game of the Roughrider Tournament, but both teams entered the game undefeated in regional play. Trinity had a 5-0 record going into the game, while Bowman County was 4-0.
The Bulldogs will host Richardton-Taylor in another region 7 battle, Friday night at 7 p.m.
Then, the Bulldogs will face their toughest challenge of the season with a road contest at 4 p.m. against fifth-ranked Shiloh Christian. The Skyhawks recently knocked off undefeated Rugby, dropping the Panthers to 13-1 for the season.
Drop second game
The Bulldogs lost their second game of the season to Belle Fourche (South Dakota) by a 68-56 margin Jan. 25, then rebounded with a 68-52 road win over Glen Ullin/Hebron Jan. 28 in Hebron.
